RISE is one of the first evidence-based programs, worldwide, dedicated to the prevention and response of elder abuse and self-neglect in the community. We work with cases involving older adults who are at risk of or experiencing elder abused or self-neglect. To date, RISE has worked with nearly 1,000 cases, and we have expanded into several locations across North America that are in various stages of implementation. What is Elder Abuse?

Center for Disease Control and Prevention | National Center for Injury Prevention and Control | Division of Violence Prevention

An intentional act or failure to act by a caregiver or another person in a relationship involving an expectation of trust that causes or creates a risk of harm to an older adult.

This book transforms how we think about aging.

In The Measure of Our Age, elder justice expert and MacArthur “genius” grant recipient, M.T. Connolly investigates the systems we count on to protect us as we age. Weaving first-person accounts, her own experience, and shocking investigative reporting, she exposes a reality that has long been hidden and sometimes actively covered up. But her investigation also reveals reasons for hope within everyone’s grasp.
